Moonstone from Moonstone Hill in Outback Queensland is renowned for its anorthoclase feldspar, which is a rare form of alkali feldspar. This Moonstone can range from colorless and transparent to milky white or yellowish and often displays a silvery-blue adularescence. The shimmering effect, resulting from the separation into albite and orthoclase layers, is characteristic of Moonstone. The Moonstone is found in scoria vents surrounded by basaltic lava plains, with some feldspar crystals filling gas cavities in the lava, making it a unique and valuable specimen for collectors.
